Send every roll
where your party is

DiceVision reads your physical dice once — then hands the result to whatever you already play on. Post it to Discord, or drop it straight into your virtual tabletop so real dice stand in for the virtual ones.

Discord

Social · auto-post rolls to a channel

Link your Discord once and DiceVision posts every roll to the channel you choose. Great for play-by-post games, remote tables, or just keeping an honest record of who rolled what.

Connect it

  1. In the app, open Settings → Discord and click Link Discord. You'll be sent to Discord to authorize DiceVision — approve the app and you'll bounce right back, now linked.
  2. Add the DiceVision bot to your server. Use the inline Add Bot to Server link and pick the server you want. The invite already includes the Send Messages permission it needs.
  3. Choose your server from the dropdown, then the text channel rolls should post to. Switching servers resets the channel, so pick the server first.
  4. Pick a message format — Minimal, Simple, or Detailed (previews below) — and you're done. Every roll now posts to that channel automatically.
⚑ The #1 gotchaChannel dropdown empty? That means the bot isn't in your server yet — the same cause behind a "DiceVision bot is not in this server" error. Click Add Bot to Server, add it, and the channels appear.

🎲 21 (d20: 17 + d6: 4)

One clean line — the total and the dice that made it. Best for fast tables that just want the number.

A roll summary plus the per-die breakdown on its own line. The friendly middle ground.

snapshot of the throw

A rich embed: every die with the owlbear's read confidence, and an optional photo of the actual throw.

Fine-tuning

  • Pause anytime — toggle Post rolls to Discord off without unlinking.
  • Roll images — enable or disable the throw snapshot.
  • Confidence threshold — only post dice the owlbear read above a set %.
  • Unlink — revokes access and deletes the integration entirely.
Heads up — after a long stretch of inactivity, Discord may ask you to re-link. A quick trip back through Link Discord sorts it out.

MCDM Codex

Virtual Tabletop · Draw Steel

Playing Draw Steel in MCDM's Codex? DiceVision steps in as the dice. Trigger a roll in Codex, throw your real dice, and the result flows back in — with Draw Steel's edge / bane and tier math handled automatically.

Install & connect

  1. In Codex, open the mod manager, search "DiceVision", and enable the mod. It registers itself automatically — no extra setup.
  2. Open the DiceVision panel. Select Panels from the menu, then choose DiceVision — that's where the blue Connect button lives.
  3. Grab a session code from DiceVision. In the app, open the VTT Bridge — click the table icon at the top-right of the dice results panel. Under Bridge pick Codex, then under Sessions hit New session for an 8-character code (e.g. E4CJD4N5). Codes last 24 hours.
  4. Back in Codex, connect: click the blue Connect… button in the panel and enter that code, or type /dv connect <code> in chat.
  5. The panel toggle turns green — Active. Replace mode is on.
  6. Make a roll in Codex; it waits for your physical dice. Roll in view of the camera and DiceVision sends the result straight in.
Pause without leaving — click the toggle to flip Active → Paused (virtual dice resume), and again to come back. Settings are in-memory and reset on reload.

Two modes

Offvirtual dice, as normalReplacephysical dice take over entirely

What it handles

  • Edge & bane — single modifiers and double tier shifts, shown in the Action Log.
  • Random tables — physical dice drive table lookups (1d100, 1d20), not just ability rolls.
  • Keep highest / lowest — dropped dice are dimmed in the log.
  • Percentile pairs — two d10s reading 00 + 0 map to 100.
  • Multi-target rolls — works with attacks hitting several creatures.
  • Dice rules editor — clamp, value maps, keep-selection via the panel gear.

Panel & chat commands

Everything's in the dockable panel — a status dice button, the connect / pause toggle, and a settings gear with diagnostics and the dice-rules editor. Prefer chat? The same controls live behind /dv:

/dv connect <code>Connect to a DiceVision session
/dv mode off|replaceSwitch between virtual and physical dice
/dv statusShow connection status and Codex hook state
/dv rulesConfigure clamp, value maps, keep-selection
/dv refreshRe-probe Codex hooks after a Codex update
/dv testTest the API connection
After a Codex update — if a roll type quietly falls back to virtual dice, a hook may have changed names. Run /dv status to see which hooks are present, then /dv refresh to re-probe.

Talespire

Virtual Tabletop · native dice tray

A DiceVision symbiote connects your physical rolls to Talespire's own dice tray in real time. Results appear like any other roll — but flagged as a symbiote roll, so your GM can see you threw real dice while everyone else clicked a button.

Install the symbiote

Manual

Copy the symbiote/ folder into Talespire's Symbiotes/ directory, rename it to DiceVision, and launch Talespire — it appears in the symbiote panel.

mod.ioComing soon

One-click install straight from mod.io. We'll flip this on the moment it's live.

Create a session & connect

  1. At dicevision.dirtyowlbear.com, sign in and open the VTT Bridge — the table icon at the top-right of the dice results panel. Under Bridge pick Talespire, then under Sessions hit New session for an 8-character code (e.g. E4CJD4N5). Codes last 24 hours.
  2. In Talespire, launch the DiceVision symbiote, enter your session code, and click Connect. The status flips to Connected.
  3. Point your camera at your dice and roll. Results land in Talespire's dice tray automatically — your session code is remembered per campaign.

Options

  • Announce in chat — post roll results to chat (on by default).
  • Send rolls to — Board (everyone) or GM only.
  • Roll label — rename the source from the default "Physical Dice."
  • Auto-reconnect — recovers dropped connections on its own.
⚑ Troubleshooting"Invalid or expired session code"? Codes expire after 24 hours — open the VTT Bridge and hit New session for a fresh one. If rolls aren't appearing, confirm the symbiote shows Connected and that DiceVision is reading your dice. And the "Symbiote" source tag isn't an error — it's the proof you rolled real.

Roll real. Everywhere.

One camera, your own dice, and the result wherever your party already gathers.
